Today’s experiment: remeasure protein concentrations

Result:

Yeah so turns out I’d been measuring protein concentrations incorrectly. The machine I’ve been using isn’t that accurate at calculating the protein concentrations so we’re supposed to do that in Excel.

Not that standard curves are all that accurate either, but I suppose this is the closest we’re going to get.

So we have a set of BSA dilutions (“standards”), which we know the concentration of, and by getting the absorbance at each of these concentrations we can make a standard curve of drawing a line through all of these points (x axis = concentration, y axis = absorbance). Then the machine gives the absorbance of each of my samples, and I can figure out what the concentration is by getting the concentration from the graph. Done and done.
